Prague for Foodies
The Czech regional cuisine offers many unusual items such as “Chlebicky” – small open faced sandwiches eaten at parties, as quick lunches or “fast food” with a flair. Another specialty is “Olomoucke syrecky”. This pungent cheese is served with fresh bread and with beer in pubs. Also “utopenec” a sausage “drowned”, as the name suggests, in vinegar, spices and onions – basically a marinated sausage, delicious as an appetizer or a meal in it’s self served with fresh bread. These are just a few items offered on this tour. Your private guide will pick you up at your hotel and either with public transportation or the vehicle of your choice, you are taken on your “culinary journey”. You will stop in typical Czech delicatessens, restaurants, pubs and the like and are introduced to these specialties. Main dish may include our famous crisp duck with dumplings and cabbage or our pork roast (knedlo-zelo-vepro) or “svickova” – our beef roast marinated in white wine, vegetables and spices. Your guide will suggest the dishes and you choose yourself.
Our specialty beverage is of course beer. Not only do we consume more than most countries, it is of the best quality – as real beer lovers proclaim.
This tour is best enjoyed by people with no food restrictions (some may be possible such as “vegetarian” – we have many wonderful, vegetarian, regional dishes) however people with allergies best refrain from this tour. They would be too limited to enjoy themselves.
Duration: about 6 hours
This tour starts at 9:00 am and you are brought back to the hotel by about 3:00 pm. Your guide explains the highlights of Prague as you go from one culinary experience to another.
